Why do we ask for an avatar & username?
EraserImg stays completely free and sign-up-free by design. This one small step just replaces an anonymous, hard-to-tell-apart guest with a visible identity, so the site stays fast, fair, and free for everyone who uses it.
It's just a name, not an account
You still don't need to sign up or share an email. Picking an avatar and username just gives you an identity on the site for this browser, the same way a nickname would on any forum. Please use your real name (e.g. “John Smith”, “Maria Garcia”) rather than a random word.
It keeps the site safe for everyone
Every tool on EraserImg is free and open to guests. Having a visible name lets us tell real visitors apart from abuse, so we can keep the tools free without them being overrun by bots or bad actors.
It helps us actually improve things
Knowing roughly how many people are using EraserImg, and which tools they reach for, is what tells us what to fix first and what to build next. A generic 'Guest' tells us nothing useful.
We're not collecting anything sensitive
No email, no phone number, no personal detail. Just an avatar and a username, stored against a random id in your browser. You can still sign up for a real account any time and this converts automatically.
